Chasen co-founded Blackboard, an educational-software and online-services company, with Mathew Serbin Pittinsky in 1997. They've since grown the business into a 500 employee company with 2005 revenue of $136 million.
2.Kevin A. Plank, 33Under ArmourBaltimore, Md.
As a football player with the University of Maryland, Plank got tired of having to change out of the sweat-soaked T-shirts he wore under his jersey, so he developed a type of moisture-wicking fabric for athletic performance. He turned the idea into his sports apparel brand 11 years ago. Revenue in 2005 was $281 million
3.Matthew McCauley, 33GymboreeSan Francisco, Calif.
Since taking over the kids clothier, McCauley boosted sales to $189 million last April, up 16% from the same quarter last year. Revenue in 2005 was $679 million.
4.Michael G. Rubin, 33GSI CommerceKing of Prussia, Pa.
Rubin's e-commerce company builds and runs online stores for heavyweight brands including Adidas, RadioShack, Burberry, Kate Spade and HBO. Revenue in 2005 was $463 million.

The Kemper family has been in banking since 1918, when it purchased the City Center Bank in Kansas City, Mo. Mariner Kemper now runs the multibank holding company that owns and operates 141 banks from Illinois to Arizona. Revenues in 2005 was $440 million.

Cohen's asset-management firm focuses on real estate, mortgage-backed securities and equipment leasing. Cohen's father, Edward E. Cohen, started the firm in 1966. 2005 Revenue was $52 million.
7.Jon S. Brumley, 35Encore AcquisitionFort Worth, Texas
Brumley became Encore's CEO in January 2006. The independent energy company has a portfolio of oil and gas properties and was co-founded in 1998 by Brumley and his father, I. Jon Brumley. Revenue in 2005 was $457 million.
